BIRDS – BIRTHS – BIRTHDAYS – BIKE RIDES

Spring really has sprung at Whitecroft Farm! 15th April the first Swallows arrived – so lovely to welcome them back to their Summer home … started with 3 or 4 and by the end of the month so many we can’t count! They swoop and chatter away and are a joy to watch!  We heard our first Cuckoo here on 23rd April, a beautiful sound of Spring, accompanied by the wild ‘Cuckoo Flowers’ that are dotted up the side of the farm track, beautiful!

Early hours of 19th April saw the birth of Indigo’s twins – 2 beautiful ewe lambs,

Whitecroft Lambretta and Whitecroft Lambrusco! These pedigree Blacknose Swiss Valais have to be registered with a name beginning with the letter ‘L’ this year – hence the playful pun! Indigo is a brilliant Mum, and both lambs are doing fantastically, and a thrill for all at Whitecroft Farm, especially guests staying in Myrtle and Rose Cottages who seem to greatly enjoy seeing this new life!

As well as a very busy time on the farm, Mark took on, and conquered, a local charity bike ride, Rocks and Wheels, doing a 71 km in an amazing 3 hours 39 minutes around this stunning local landscape! A well-earned drink and feet up for a while after that one!

Right at the end of the month (30th April) our amazing, and very gorgeous dog May celebrated her 2nd birthday! It’s crazy how quickly the time has gone since she was just a wee pup, but everyday she brings us such joy!

And even more good news is the two Barn Owls are still here and nesting in the box we’ve provided for them in our big barn. Hoolet and Ollie (named by some of our regular young guests), can often been seen (and heard) flying around Whitecroft Farm at dusk and into the evening, a sight (and sound) to behold!
