Southerness Lighthouse – Carsethorn – Beach Ride

Category : CYCLE

ACTIVITY TYPE : Gravel Bike, MTB

TIME : 2.5 – 3 Hours

DISTANCE : 23 miles – 37 Km (Can be shortened)

This has to be one of the most relaxing rides in the area. Taking in magnificent views and the stunning changing beach between Southerness and Carsethorn.

The Steamboat Inn at Carsethorn is the perfect place to stop for lunch or refreshment.

Before you get there, don’t miss the lighthouse at Southerness and amazing Thirl Stane natural arch near Powillimount.

This ride takes in a significant amount of beach riding. Care must be taken to check tide times. The beach is ever changing so be prepared to avoid sticky silt patches. When I did this ride in July 2024 the beach and rocks were just perfect.
